Never count Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta out! On December 8, 2012, Mercito lost his first ever fight against Miguel Vazquez in a unanimous decision for the IBF Lightweight Title fight (FIGHT PHOTOS) at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. As Miguel Vazquez retained his IBF Title, he visited Mercito in his locker room and told him that he is a strong fighter and will be a champion one day.
As stated by Bert Salamida, one of Mercito’s fans in San Diego, “Failure is a stepping stone on the path to success”. Although Mercito suffered his first failure in his boxing career, Mercito will learn from this championship fight, grow to become stronger and hungrier, and build the confidence once again to be the champion that Vazquez predicts in the future. This failure was a big stepping stone for Mercito which will eventually lead to future success in his boxing career.
Fans and family (EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS) all over the world believe in Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta and we are proud of his courage and efforts during his championship fight.
From Mercito, Gesta Family, and Team Gesta, “Thanks to everyone for all the support!”

Anecito Gesta brought up his eldest son the way he had been brought up — fighting.
The best recollection of both father and son is that Mercito Gesta was 7 years old when his dad first took him to the street looking for someone to beat the boy.
“He would offer them money if they could beat me,” Mercito said. “Big kids, older than me. Bigger.”
