April 1st, 2017 – Mercito Gesta (29-1-2) vs. Gilberto Gonzalez (27-3) (Mexico) at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. Mercito was the Co-Main Event for this Golden Boy on ESPN Fight night.

Mercito won by unanimous decision 99-91, 98-92, and 96-93 after an 18 month layoff, and dominated the fight with his boxing skills, movements, and hand-speed.  Though knockdown by a Gonzalez left upper cut in the 3rd round, it did not phase the filipino fighter as Mercito continued his boxing prowess bloodying the face of Gonzalez.  A great fight between the two warriors!
